Position:  DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP, MUSIC & ARTS (WMA)
Supervisor:   Rev. Eric Vogt, Senior Pastor
Status:  25-30 hours per week; may add responsibilities to create a fulltime position.

JOB SUMMARY

Travis Park United Methodist Church, an historic congregation sharing God’s unconditional love and justice in the heart of downtown San Antonio, is seeking a Director of Worship, Music & Arts (WMA). The successful candidate will bring an extensive knowledge of theology, liturgy and music, combined with a passion for designing inclusive, diverse, and inviting worship experiences that communicate that each and every individual is a beloved child of God, regardless of background or circumstances. Our worship gatherings are an important part of how we share God’s love and hospitality, a time for us to embody our welcome statement, which says, in part: “We serve and learn [as siblings] from all walks of life, rich and poor, housed and homeless, gay and straight, black and brown and white, secular and sacred, PhD and GED.”

The Director of WMA is an integral member of our worship design team, and is the supervisor of all music staff. Together, with the senior pastor, the Director of WMA oversees and coordinates all aspects of worship service production and its staffing. This includes an adult choir, organist, youth and children’s music groups, handbells, praise band musicians and singers, and worship with our extensive ministry with un-housed neighbors. The position is 25-30 hours per week, requiring presence at the Church on Sunday mornings and evenings, and at least three (3) days during the week, working closely with the senior pastor, music staff, and the worship design and production team. With the right candidate, TPUMC would consider adding responsibilities in another aspect of music or worship ministry to create a full-time position.

Candidates should have professional-level musicianship skills, work experience in worship and liturgy planning, and knowledge of a spectrum of worship expressions from “high-church” liturgical to “low-church” band-led. They should have a personal faith commitment consistent with TPUMC's theology and practice of unconditional love and justice to all.

To apply, please submit resume, cover letter, and application form to Rev. Eric Vogt at evogt@travispark.org.
