The current news, in brief:
Learn more from the Interim Director of CMI: Dear Members and Friends of TPUMC, You have been faithfully serving the Lord in this place for a long time. Throughout San Antonio and all across the country, you have been known as the church that reaches out and cares for your homeless neighbors and is in the process of assisting them and accepting them as brothers and sisters in Christ. You have known for some time that the Corazon Day Center will be closing as Haven for Hope opens its doors for a more comprehensive approach to the homeless than the church can offer. This transition is now upon us, sooner than we had expected.
All of the Corazon staff who are interested, are going to begin their training as "Community Guest Workers" in the "Prospects Park" section of Haven for Hope. Their full time training starting on April 5, under the supervision of the Center for Health Care Services (CHCS). On some days, CHCS trainees will be available to continue some of the services of the CMI Day Center during the hands-on portion of their orientation, between April 5 and May 21. Your assistance and personal involvement are needed during this transitional time and for the foreseeable future on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Volunteers are needed to continue encouraging our homeless and low income neighbors and fellow church members. Please sign up on Sunday morning and/or speak to Dale Tremper, dtremper@corazon-sa.org or 279-5743.
